Understanding Fees for Uninsured Medical Services
Many services fall outside OHIP coverage. Here's a clear breakdown of what to expect — our fees are transparent, fair, and often below OMA recommended rates.
Overview
What Are Uninsured Services?
Essential medical services are covered by OHIP. However, many services are not insured and must be billed as uninsured services. Our office follows Ontario Medical Association (OMA) guidelines but often charges below the OMA's recommended rates.
We have listed the most commonly requested uninsured services below. If the service you require is not listed, please speak with our office staff for clarification.
Billing
Fees & Payment
- Fees are based on OMA recommended rates (2009 Guide to Third Party & Other Uninsured Services) and fees from local medical offices.
- All uninsured services must be paid in full at the time of service.
- Accepted payment methods: cheque, credit card, and Interac.
- A $20.00 fee applies for returned (N.S.F.) cheques.
- If you cannot pay at the time of service, please notify staff so that arrangements can be made.

Transferring Your Medical Records
How Transfer Fees Are Calculated
When transferring medical records to another physician, charges are based on:
- 1 Time required for the physician to review your file.
- 2 Time required for staff to prepare, copy, or type the narrative.
- 3 Copying and courier costs.
To protect your privacy, records are sent by courier, unless you choose to pick them up at our office.
Transfer Details
- Prepayment is required.
- Transfers are typically completed within 7 business days after authorization and payment.
- Our fee for transferring records onto a USB is $60.00, lower than the OMA's 2015 recommended rate.
Policy
